Published on: April 7, 2009
Winder-Barrow Community Theatre is announcing the details of their summer Drama Camp that is held in conjunction with the Winder Cultural Arts Center and the City of Winder. Two weeks of Drama Camp will be held this year, and the camp will be free for the children who attend. The camps are filled on a first come, first served basis with two sessions per day for a week. Children ages 5 to 9 will attend the morning session, and children ages 10 to 14 will attend in the afternoon. Children can only attend one week of camp.
The first week is June 22 to 26, 2009, and the second week is July 13 to 17, 2009. Each child will receive a t-shirt and will be provided with snacks each day. Sign ups will begin on Monday, May 4th. To sign up your child, you will need to pick up an application and medical form from Pam Veader's State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679) or request a copy by e-mail to pam@pamveader.com. Your child will not be added to the list until the forms are returned to Pam's office with signatures and all needed information. A waiting list will be compiled if all of the classes are full. If somebody has to drop out, the next person on the list will be called.
Drama Camp will provide instruction in acting, writing plays, costumes, props, sets, movement, improvisation, and other dramatic activities. At the end of each week, the children will present a short play for their parents and family at the end of the class.
Auditions for the Children's PLAYhouse presentation of "Aladdin and His Magic Lamp" will be held on Saturday, May 16th at 10:00 am at the Colleen Williams Theater in Winder. Children from ages 6 and up can audition for the show that will open on Saturday, July 11th at 11:00 am and 7:30 pm. Please mark your calendar for these events.
